Most luxurious hotels are situated in the MG area, so you'll have restaurants and lots of shops nearby. Among the best, Oberoi, with Japanese gardens and elegant suites, and the The Park, in the same area. Here you even have internet and the restaurant serves tropical dishes . The bad part is that the rooms cost more than 150 US$. If you have this money, it's worth it anyway.
