As walking is extremely unconfortable in Chennai, it is advisable that you use an auto. Taxis are not the best option, as they are very hard to find and very expensive. The bus remains the best option, although it can sometimes get crowded. There are "M" minibuses that go from central stations to Egmore, and "V"buses with fewer stops.
