If you have time to take a one-day break from the city of Mumbai, you must go to the Elephanta Island, 10 kilometres away. You'll notice the island, as it raises from the bay in the form of a huge whale. The caves on the island are relics of the volcanic activity of centuries ago in the area. You will also witness lovely carvings performed by the craftsmen 1000 years ago in the cave walls.
