If you have some more time to spend on the museums of Mumbai, you should go to the Nhava Maritime Museum, on the Nhava Island. You'll find lots of artefacts, charts, photos and models of maritime history dating for 4 000 years. It is really spectacular, believe me. I was quite impressed, although I am not much of a marine lover :) The island is accessible by ferry form the Gateway of India.
