Shimla, a former British colony town worth visiting

Posted 1 year ago by avatar dizzy in response to patrick's question: I’ve heard that Shimla used to be a British town. If you want to visit India and to catch the Indian life and history, is it worth going there? (give a different answer) .

Yes, Shimla used to be a colonial British town, and most of the architecture there is recent and it is considered to be a middle class Indian resort. There is plenty of history to see here, even if it is not the history that made India famous, starting with colonial houses and lodges, which show that Indians can be civilized in the European meaning of the word, and ending with some typical Indian temples, most of them dedicated to Hanuman. Also, the surroundings are a breath of fresh air, walking and hiking being the most popular thing to do there.
