If you ever get bored of Simla(although highly improbable), you could try a day-trip to Mashobra. There are many temples open to tourists, and the forest is absolutely wonderful. The road is easily accessible by car, and you might even try getting there walking. It's safe and you will have a lot of scenery to keep you busy, so don't be afraid you'll get tired :)
